Allegra Herman is a native New Yorker and Bessie Award winning dancer based in Brooklyn, NY. She trained classically at both Manhattan Youth Ballet and the School of American Ballet where she performed in numerous productions with the New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center. She furthered her contemporary training at prestigious programs such as the Nederlands Dans Theater summer intensive, Springboard Danse Montreal, and b12 Berlin. 

Allegra has been a member of Caitlin Trainor’s dance company, Trainor Dance, since 2014, and recently joined Pigeonwing Dance, helmed by Gabrielle Lamb. She has performed with Aspen Santa Fe Ballet, the Little Orchestra Society, and OUI DANSE, and has danced works by Crystal Pite, Doug Varrone, Fernando Melo, Roy Assaf, Peter Chu, George Balanchine, and Jerome Robbins, among others. From 2018-2019, she had the pleasure of touring with the first national tour of Fiddler on the Roof, directed by Bartlett Sher and choreographed by Hofesh Shechter. She performed in three different productions at The Metropolitan Opera in 2022/23, including the principal acting role of Germont’s Daughter in La Traviata. Allegra is a graduate of Columbia University, where she majored in French Language and Literature, and is currently the head of contemporary curriculum at Rye Ballet Conservatory.
